about

Sarah Rencurrel Collins is an award winning photojournalist and documentary photographer based in The Woodlands, Texas. After graduating from Texas A&M University she began her career as a photographer, working as Chief Photographer for The Facts newspaper in Clute, Texas. While working, and later having and raising her young children, she continued to hone her skills as a photographer by earning her Bachelor of Arts in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

As a photographer, she strives to document the world around her. By capturing a moment, she is a witness to a story, which she then intends to share with those who view her work. It is her intention to help bring light to stories and moments that may otherwise be left unseen.

Sarah has witnessed the impact a single photograph can have on a person. It is her goal to one day leave such an impact in someone else’s life. Pictures help people to see, and seeing helps people live. Her belief is that observing a photograph allows a person to step outside of their daily lives and into one that they were previously blind to.

Becoming a mother to a son in the summer of 2018 and a daughter in January of 2020 altered her priorities. Motherhood has brought to her attention the unique bond an infant, a child forms with another. Whether it be a father, a mother, or a grandparent, Sarah aims to document this bond through her photography. Striving to capture images comparable to that of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, and Sally Mann, Sarah hopes to produce images that cause the viewer to take time and reflect on what they are seeing.
